I spent over two years year building and refining this 'Power and Conflict' Poetry Anki deck. It contains in-depth analysis of 4 quotes, form and structure from all fifteen anthology poems alongside niche historical, philosophical and theological contextual analysis of every poem.
The Poetry Anthology deck is split into 15 subdecks, corresponding to the 15 poems in the 'Power and Conflict' Poetry anthology.
The subdeck for each poem is split up into three further subdecks - analysis, AO3 (Contextual Analysis) and quote memorisation. The analysis subdecks contain perceptive and comprehensive points and method analysis for 4 separate quotes per poem. This was the analysis which I memorised and wrote in my exam in order to achieve the top grade.
This 'AO3' Contextual Analysis subdecks contain detailed historical, psychological and philosophical frameworks which can be applied in order to help your essays reach the top band. This contextual analysis ranges from links between 'Tissue' and modern sociology to 'Checking Out Me History' and Frantz Fanon's cultural philosophy.
The quote memorisation subdecks are composed of cloze deletion flashcards, allowing you to memorise quotes and quote clusters using the power of spaced repetition and active recall.
Most students revise the poems they think are likely to come up and gamble on the chance that these end up appearing in the exam. This comprehensive Anki system allows you to do the exact opposite - prepare for every single possibility.
Instead of hundreds of disconnected notes and quotes for each poem, this Anki system and its linked quotation analysis bank pulls all of this Grade 9 analysis together, allowing you to go into your GCSE English Literature exam confident - regardless of what poem ends up coming up.
Indeed, the majority of pre-existing decks and revision resources on the 'Power and Conflict' anthology generally only have surface-level analysis which is inadequate if you're aiming for the top grades. This deck is proven by results, with this 'Power and Conflict' revision system offering the exact detailed analysis which I memorised in order to achieve full marks in the exam.
Although the flashcards are based off my experience studying with the AQA syllabus, some of the poems in the 'Power and Conflict' poetry anthology overlap with the anthologies of different UK and International exam boards.
Poems featured in this deck which are also included in other anthologies include:
'London' - WJEC Eduqas, Edexcel
'Exposure' - Edexcel
'The Charge of the Light Brigade' - Edexcel
''Extract from The Prelude' - OCR, Edexcel
'War Photographer' - Edexcel IGCSE
'The Émigrée' - Edexcel
'Poppies' - Edexcel
'Ozymandias' - WJEC Eduqas
'My Last Duchess' - WJEC Eduqas
