I spent over two years creating and refining this 'Macbeth' Anki deck. It contains a detailed analysis of 30+ quotes from Act 1 to 5 alongside high-level niche philosophical and theological contextual analysis of the play.
This deck is split into 3 major subdecks, including everything you need to get full marks on 'Macbeth' in your exam.
It features a 'Quote Analysis' subdeck which is broken into further subdecks corresponding to Act 1, Act 2, Act 3, Act 4 and Act 5 of the play. Within each of these analysis subdecks is the unique, high-level Grade 9 analysis of the quotes and quote clusters which I memorised and wrote in my exam in order to achieve full marks. This analysis covers all major themes, with my Anki tagging system on the flashcards meaning that they can be sorted by both characters and themes as well as acts via the subdeck structure. The themes covered are: ambition, appearance and reality, fate and free will, good and evil, guilt, kingship, masculinity and gender as well as violence. Major characters covered include Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Macduff, Banquo and Malcolm with select cards also covering Duncan and the Witches.
This 'Macbeth' Deck also contains a 'Contextual Analysis' subdeck which contains 45+ pieces of unique historical, philosophical and theological context which can be applied to different essay titles. Ideas covered in these flashcards range from Sartre's existentialist philosophy to modern ideas of gender performance in sociology and Jacobean ideas of sleep and sleeplessness.
The 'Macbeth' Deck also contains a 'Quote Memorisation' subdeck. This includes cloze deletion flashcards, helping you to memorise all of the key quotations for the play.
There are countless free flashcard decks, revision guides and online resources available for 'Macbeth'. However, when you're deciding what deserves revision time, you shouldn't have to gamble on whether the resource you're using is capable of helping you get the top grade.
This Anki system is proven by results.
It is the exact Anki system which I built, memorised and refined throughout my GCSEs, helping me to achieve full marks in 'Macbeth' and ultimately 160/160 in GCSE English Literature. It has context, analysis and quote memorisation frameworks all in one place, allowing you to focus on actually learning top quality content, instead of wasting valuable revision time trying to find, select and organise it yourself.
Although the flashcards are based off my experience studying with the AQA syllabus, the nature of English Literature as a subject means that this content is directly applicable to all major UK and International exam boards.
Information on how to import the Anki deck and integrate it into your revision workflow is included alongside the deck.
